SAR Derailment |
Description: |
The Cat ditch digger visible behind 35-067 is attached with a cable to a Caterpillar forklift, off picture to the left. The forklift slipped off the roadbed into the ditch and got stuck in the mud, and the cable was attached in a futile attempt to liberate it. |

SAR Derailment |
Description: |
Six days after the derailment track repairs are almost complete. Enough of the mud and coal paste had been washed off the trailing loco by the almost continuous rain to make its nose number legible. |

SAR Derailment |
Description: |
The last loco of the foursome still has a cab filled with a mixture of mud and coal. Even though it has a bent frame, it will probably be taken to the Transwerk shops in Bloemfontein for repairs. |
