This MoW ribbon rail train was being pushed rear-end-first employing a rarely used espee C-50-9 caboose. UP has a small handfull of these SP C-50-9s still active on their roster and the 4702 is possibly the best looking of all. Most of its sister cabeese have fallen victim to tagging and the often rainy Oregon weather. The 4702's home for most days is in Oakridge. The C-50-9 (4700 series) were the last cabooses SP ordered and were delivered in 1980. Note the size of the lash up on the train parked on the siding. |
