PRR Eastbound Pushers, c. 1951
Baera 2. Here is a photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1951. At the left is an unidentified A-B-A set of Pennsylvania Railroad diesel-electric locomotives built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. They've just finisihed a helper/pusher assignment up "The Mountain" to Gallitzin, where they were uncoupled and are now being returned to East Altoona for another assignment. (Track 3) At the right, the last cars of an eastbound freight train are passing under four-track Signal Bridge #2416/2417. The road number of the cabin car pictured here is not recorded. (Track 4)
