PRR Eastbound Mineral, c. 1951
Baera 2. Here is a photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken just West of the 17th Street Bridge in Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1951. Shown here is an unidentified Pennsylvania Railroad J-1 (2-10-4) "Texas" pulling a fully-loaded mineral train. It's just descended the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve, and is about to pass ALTO Tower on its way into Altoona's Eastbound Receiving Yard. Note the Headend Brakeman riding atop the eighth car of the train!
