Electrics. Here is a photo of (L to R) Penn Central engines #4879 and #4877. Both are GG-1 (2-C-C-2) electrics built by the Pennsylvania Railroad in Juniata, rated at 4,620 horsepower each, and both preserved at the United Railway Historical Society in Boonton, New Jersey. #4879 was constructed in February of 1939, while #4877 was built in January of the same year.
