PRR 4315, I-1SA, #2 of 4, 1956
Bowers. Here is the second of four successive duplicate 35mm color slides by Nelson Bowers that were taken near Shamrock Mills, Pennsylvania, on 22 September 1956. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #4315 and #4258. Both are I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapods" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works. #4315 was constructed as an I-1S during December of 1922, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in July of 1941, and retired in October of 1959. #4258 was built as an I-1S during July of 1923, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in September of 1942, and retired in September of 1959. Note the Fireman along side the locomotive; he's just uncoupled the second tender from the train so that the locomotives can proceed to the Watering Point.
