EL PA-1 #852 - Erie Lackawanna  Contributor's Pick!
Interesting mixed passenger train near State Line heading toward Hammond, IN. Unusual boxcar at the head end of two different types of passenger cars. Note the "strong arm" switch bars running quite a distance to the far left of the photo. Alco built this loco in April of 1949 as Erie 852. It kept the same number after the merger. According to one online source, it was finally traded in to EMD in 1969. Unknown photographer.
