| Louisville & Nashville local Number 7 has just passed through Gentilly Yard (milepost 800.4) and crossed the Industrial Canal drawbridge (milepost 801.4). The train was scheduled into New Orleans at 3:45 P.M., after a 12-hour trip from Montgomery, Alabama. It was established in 1946 and discontinued in September 1953. The switch in the foreground was the connection with the Gulf, Mobile & Ohio, at the north end of the GM&O's Canal Yard.The train was powered by K-5 class 4-6-2 245. This was one of six light Pacifics (240-245) assigned to the L&N by the United States Railroad Administration during the First World War. These were built by Alco-Richmond in 1919, after the end of the War. After the USRA was abolished, the railroad got 20 more K-5's: Baldwin built eight (264-271) in 1923 and Alco-Brooks constructed 12 (272-283) in 1924. The 245 was retired on 22 June 1954.
