BRBL 2-4-4-T #5 - Boston, Revere Beach & Lynn  Contributor's Pick!
Here is was appears to be a very old print of the Boston, Revere Beach & Lynn narrow gauge locomotive built in 1885 by the Mason Machine Works (bldr #720). The locomtoive was rebuilt in 1917 and finally scrapped in 1929. One source mentioned that the BRB&L layed their narrow guage rails on standard gauge ties, something that can be easily seen in this photo. An interesting note was written by the unknown photographer "All taken with the old 3a folding camera, before I bought the Graflex."

Steve Young General This would be a 'Mason Bogie' Single Fairlie, built under license by Mason, to Fairlie's Patent. The drivers and pony truck swivel on their own pivot. Mason perfected the art of flexible steam joints in the US. 5/6/2020 5:27:59 PM
