Good stuf!! Too bad the EL west end didn't have a brighter future. It was well engineered, and would have made a good speedway for intermodal, despite not going to most of the major cities in the region. The RS 3's there may have been planned for what became CR's RS 3m program, getting their Alco 244's replaced by EMD 567's from retired E units. EL had done one, maybe two, at Hornell before the program stalled, and then the clock ran out on April 1 1976. (continued...) Leavittsburg OH the day the shot of EL 831 appeared on the home page. Interestng to see the juxtaposition of the two eras, two parts of the same line almost 50 years apart; how things have changed, from a busy railroad with main line power, to a line mostly abandoned, with some now local operations that are a shadow of the former glory.
