NKP 2-8-2 #646, Nickel Plate Road (New York, Chicago & St Louis)  Contributor's Pick!
Another of the thirty of these were by Lima Locomotive Works in 1922-23 as a class H-6e. Like the rest of the NKP Mikados, they had 63" drivers and developed 200 psi boiler pressure. It was sold for scrap on 12/20/1961 to Luntz Iron & Steel. This is the way I like to remember Nickel Plate locos - roaring down a Midwest prairie track blowing smoke skyward!
