Due to a MW project on the BNSF Mississippi River Bridge at Burlington, IA, several Amtrak California Zephyr trains detoured over the UPRR between Omaha and Chicago. Because Amtrak locomotives are not equipped with the propert cab signal equipment to operate over this former CNW territory, UP locomotives with CNW cab signals were operated in the lead on these trains. Here we see No. 6(30) on the UPRR Boone Subdivision. The UPRR engineer pilot and the Amtrak conductor stretch while waiting for the main track to be released ahead due to a grade crossing collision. |
