Originally built by Alco-Schenectady in April fo 1930, CRIP 4-8-4 #5045 had 70" drivers but they were replaced with 74" ones during a 1930' rebuild making it suitable for use on both freight and high speed passenger service. The loco served well until being retired and sold for scrap in February of 1953. Specs - 69" drivers, impressive 250 psi boiler pressure, 26x32" cylinders, engine weight of 434,000 lb and tractive effort of 66,620 lb. No photographer was listed for the photo. |
