B&O-Pullman "Villa Falls"
Built in 1913 by Pullman. The following is from a display on a car: Until 1947, Pullman not only built and operated most first class cars, but also owned them. After an anti-trust suit, all of Pullmans equipment was sold to 57 railroads. The Villa Falls (originally the Delcambre) had been assigned to sleeper service on the Southern Pacifics daily Sunset Limited between Los Angeles and New Orleans. From 1948 until retirement in 1965 it ran on B&O trains throughout the Eastern U.S., such as the Diplomat and Shenandoah. Accommodations include 10 open sections. Each section has a facing pair of seats that form a lower berth at; an upper berth folds down from the ceiling. At night, curtains between the open berths and center aisle gave some privacy. The car also has 3 double bedrooms, each with two berths. The Villa Falls is one of only two surviving car of this configuration. The car arrived at IRM in 1994, after purchase from a private owner.
