TPPX 70034 was part of the consist of a CN local crossing Towmen Rd. as it crossed over from the former SOO main line to the former C&NW main line at Shawano Junction, WI on 14 Jan. '17. Shawano Junction is in Fox Crossing, WI (formerly Town of Menasha, WI until 14 Apr. '16). This spot used to be named Fox River Junction, after several segments of the original C&NW main line through Menasha and Neenah were removed and a turnout was installed here which allows the bypass of missing C&NW rails by using former SOO rails. Train was headed for Appleton, Little Chute, and Kaukauna. The former SOO main line is in the foreground. |

A CN local approaches the Main St. overpass as it traverses the west leg of the wye at the north end of the former SOO yard at Neenah, WI on 13 Jun. '18. The east leg of the wye is partially visible beyond the train. The white building at right is, or was, Progressive Paper Storage, Inc. (formerly Kimberly-Clark Warehouse (K-C Warehouse)). It does not receive rail service, but it looks like there may have been a spur on the northwest side of the building in the past. Train was returning from Appleton, Little Chute, and Kaukauna. Several of Neenah's hideous, modern edifices contaminate the skyline in the background at right (I am obviously not a fan of modern, so-called, architecture). |
