CR 23071 |
Description: |
Conrail 23071 is a long way from home at its new home in Sequim, Washington. The ex-Pennsylvania Railroad caboose (cabin car in Pennsy parlance) was built sometime during WWII as PRR 477872, a class N-5C cabin car. The N-5s were among the most common cabooses in America, and many ended up passed on to PRR successors Penn Central and Conrail. The car was renumbered to CR 23071, and lasted in service until the late 70s/early 80s. Somehow, the car found its way to the Olympic Railway Inn, where it is now used as a cottage. |
