The train is either a #53 or #55(most likely) on the the "New Orleans Sub" of the "Louisiana & Arkansas Division" for the KCS. Train 55 usually had chemical empties returning to Baton Rouge. It also carried piggybacks. (53 ran the same route, but to Family Lines' Gentilly Yard) KCS 799 was part of a two unit order delivered August 1979, making it five years old in this shot. |

You can see all the sand spots where trains going up the grade have had to get all the traction possible to make it up the grade (and I've seen some trains get stuck).
