Description:  Norfolk Southern GP38 #2880 was built June 1966 for the original Norfolk Southern as #2001 (Southern Railway installed high-short hoods on these units upon acquisition), unit was formerly Southern Railway #2880. Unit left NS roster and became Luxapalila Valley Railroad (LXVR) #2880. Southern Railway GP38 #2881 was built June 1966 for the original Norfolk Southern as #2002 and later became Norfolk Southern #2881 (beginning at the class light and going back to the cab door, the original short hood line can be clearly seen. Unit left roster and became Georgia & Florida Railnet #2881

Title:  Running Cars in Chesapeake
Description:  NS GP38 2883 runs a cut of cars through Chesapeake VA in May 1990. It's passing under Berkley Road and will quickly cross the Elizabeth River on its way into Norfolk proper. the unit is from the original Norfolk Southern and rebuilt with a high short hood. It's since moved on to a series of soztheastern shortlines and regained its snort hood.
