By the detector
Title:  By the detector
Description:  The empty oil train rolls past the defect detector just south of Davidson Rd. This is a useful feature, as the axle count makes it unnecessary to count cars.

Waiting...
Title:  Waiting...
Description:  I heard a horn from the house that indicated a northbound train. I got out and headed toward town. As I got near Lake Frances Rd, I saw the red of a CP unit, and realized he was holding short of the crossing. This usually indicates a meet. I took the short side trip to shoot what turned out to be an empty oil train with a clean GE leading.

Inside the curve
Title:  Inside the curve
Description:  Northbounds are in a left hand curve as they approach Lake Frances Drive, and since the sun was weak, and the train was stopped, I took the opportunity to get this shot that would have been backlit on a sunny day.

North in the snow
Title:  North in the snow
Description:  Somehow I think Ive seen this show before...oh, yeah, I lived in upstate NY when CP ran the D&H. Lots of red diesels then, though not many GEs, just hordes of SD 40s and a few Alcos. This pair of GE rebuilds leads 114 cars of empty oil tanks north, just south of Decatur at Floyd Moore Rd.

Head end
Title:  Head end

Team track
Title:  Team track
Description:  The sun had gone in behind a cloud bank, which didnt help the lighting, but it did even it out. I took the opportunity to get a shot from the team yard on the Lincoln St side of the tracks, getting a better angle on the power.
