All are FF-20's built by Fairbanks-Morse and rated at 2,000 horsepower each. #9465 was constructed in January of 1948 and retired in September of 1962 after just 14 years of revenue service. Altoona Action. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken in the Pennsylvania Railroad's Erecting & Machine Shop storage yard in Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1963. The photographer is not identified. Prominent here is PRR engine #9465, an FF-20 built by Fairbanks-Morse in January of 1948, rated at 2,000 horsepower, and retired in September of 1962 after just 14 years of revenue service. In this context, it's being "cannibalized" for parts. |
