Controls of BN U23C 5206 at Clyde, Illinois on an unknown day in May 1981, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. These are the controls for a locomotive that was built for the CB&Q as #466 in April 1969 (c/n 36994), one of a nine unit order of U23Cs, the only ones on both the CB&Q and the BN rosters. This photo was shot in the dead line at Cicero. This locomotive was officially retired in June 1984. You might ask how I could be sure this was #5206, and my proof is the road number chalked on this control panel, if you look closely. And I did not even see the smiley face on the upper middle gauge until I posted this photo.
