Looking like a new locomotive recently delivered from EMD, this Geep is a recent arrival from rebuilding by Relco in Albia, Iowa. This locomotive was delivered to Santa Fe as GP35 1407 in August 1965 and after nearly five years of service was renumbered 3407 in March 1970. In July 1984 after a major rebuilding 3407 was released by the Cleburne shops as GP35u 2907 and wore that number until the merger with Burlington Northern becoming BNSF 2607 in January 2000. After sitting in storage for several years BNSF pulled this diesel from the dead line and shipped it to Relco who returned it as an upgraded GP39-3 in August 2013. After being back on home rails a couple of months 2680 now wears a light dusting of dirt on fresh H3 paint while working in BNSF's Alliance Yard bracketed by Gensets also in H3. |

Delivered to Chesapeake & Ohio as C&O 4078 GP40 in July 1971 dressed in Enchantment Blue and Federal Yellow but would later be repainted into the Chessie System scheme still keeping the same number. The Chessie/Seaboard System merger would bring a new number to this unit becoming CSXT 6833 in 1987 but would be retired without ever entering the CSX paint booth. Morrison Knudsen purchased and rebuilt this diesel for Southern Pacific releasing it on July 16, 1991 as SP 7126 GP40M-2. On July 22, 2010, this locomotive fell under the Union Pacific flag when it was patched UP 1463 and given a full repaint two years later. Note the dents on the fuel tank, evidence of a previous sideswipe incident. |
