Album Info:For the past couple months Ethan and I had a 4 day trip planned to the cheese state for some train photography and hopefully some changing leaves. We ended up coming away with some awesome grabs and overall had a spectacular time! Today we spent our day along the WSOR and CN mainlines and also got some traction action (haha) on the East Troy Electric Railroad! Enjoy!

Title:  WAMX 3947
Description:  Today Ethan and I begin Day 2 of our Wisconsin Trip. Today we are starting along the WSOR just like we had ended the night last night. The plan is to shoot operations in and out of Janesville in the morning then continue east to the CN in Waukesha. When we got trackside not much was happening, but we did get fortunate enough to grab this RC Job working the yard coming over Crosby Ave.

WAMX 4182
Title:  WAMX 4182
Description:  The only guaranteed daylight train on the mainline to Chicago is the T4, so Ethan and I began driving east to find it. We got quite a ways before decided to stop in Whitewater to check the tracks. A group of local railfans were waiting at the stations with their cameras set up. They had been chasing the train for a while and said it should be coming by soon. About 10-15 minutes later, the train popped around the corner and raced west by the station with some nice fall colors beginning to pop out from the trees.

East Troy Electric Railroad
Title:  East Troy Electric Railroad
Description:  It looked near impossible to try to follow T4 back toward Janesville so we decided to continue eastward. The boys at Whitwater told us to look in to the East Troy Electric Railroad, a small interurban electric railroad that is home to several vintage working interurban cars. Ethan and I decided to head on into East Troy. When we got to the Museum, sure enough, 3 engines and cars were coming back into East Troy after the 14 mile turn.

Neither of us had any idea that there were operating South Shore Cars in the United States. We had no plan to even come here at the beginning of the trip. It just became one of the best detours we couldve made.

Description:  After grabbing some lunch at Subway, we went down to the cemetery on the east side of town to await the 12 PM run east to Muckwonago. About a half hour later after the scheduled departure, the South Shore cars came around the bend with another set of passengers. Here the train passes the distant signal at "Trent Junction" which I would assume is now a place where interurban cars get off the mainline to allow other ones to pass. At one time though it was clear that this was used to serve local industries in East Troy.

EJE 703
Title:  EJE 703
Description:  Since we basically shot the entire East Troy Railroad in length now we found it as a good time to break off and go to the CN, as it was now right around the corner. One of the big objectives on the CN was to catch EJE 703, which had been working on the Waukesha Local for quite some time now. EJE 703 is the only remaining EJE painted engine with the classic green "J Ball" on the nose. However, since it is a weekend, we were aware that the engines (if they were where they usually are parked) would not be moving and we would have to settle for stills. Sure enough, upon arriving at the Waukesha station, both the EJE 703 and CN 9530 were parked in the usual parking spot with a gondola. Time for some stills and some CN action!
