Wow!
Title:  Wow!
Description:  Parked beneath gloomy winter skies this day on the spur located on the south side of the Laurel Avenue grade crossing on the MN&S spur was this CP caboose. I'd seen pictures of the crummies that had the "Pac Man" logo on them but never in my wildest dreams thought I would find one down in the Twin Cities, much less on the MN&S Spur!

Round Yet Another Cruve
Title:  Round Yet Another Cruve
Description:  The MN&S Spur twists and turns through the inner western suburbs of Minneapolis like a jointed steel rail conga line. Today this curve by Brunswick Avenue in SLP is bearing the weight of the CP/SOO local which is returning to Humbolt Yard after interchanging with Progressive Rail at Nesbit Siding in Bloomington.

On Past The Power Poles
Title:  On Past The Power Poles
Description:  It is interesting how a major power line is routed down the MN&S Spur for most of the stretch of track through SLP. Here the northbound CP/Soo local passes by them with one car of interchange from Progressive Rail in Bloomington. Dig how the Soo Line's own "4449" is still wearing Soo livery at this late date! Note my own "motive power" at the far right background.

Title:  Away She Goes At 10 MPH
Description:  The northbound CP/Soo local tip toes along the jointed rail of the MN&S Spur as it passes Brunswick Avenue on its trip north to Humbolt Yard in Minneapolis with a lone loaded gondola the sole northbound interchange from Progressive Rail this day. I tried catching it once more up in Golden Valley, but by then the train had given me the slip.

Yes!
Title:  Yes!
Description:  We are just south of Excelsior Boulevard on the Canadian Pacific Soo Line MN&S Spur (the former main line of the Minneapolis, Northfield, and Southern railroad), a place I've always wanted to photograph a train at. Lo and behold: by pure luck I finally got to do that! Here comes the northbound CP local which serves Nesbit Siding in Bloomington where CP interchanges with Progessive Rail, operator of the former MN&S "High Line." Today only one loaded gondola is making the return trip to Humbolt Yard.

Title:  St. Paul Turn
Description:  A close-up of the motive power of the TC&W St. Paul Turn as the engines idle away beneath a grey December sky after the crew had brought the train back to the Hopkins depot after the trip into the Cities. Title:  Taking The Siding By Sunset
Description:  Sunset on this grey Saturday in February is barely forty minutes away as this eastbound BNSF sand or potash (do not know which) train takes the siding at Long Lake for a quick meet with a westboud extra toting a rotary snowplow/locomotive combo. Most of the hoppers were from the BNSF with a few other shippers mixed into the consist strung out between the lead units and the DPU.
